In the Fall of 2019, Lisa Mercer led an upper-class course in Graphic Design at the University of Illinois using the Racism Untaught framework. The work on this page is an example of one students’ work that resulted from that course. The final results were developed as a result of learned factors that were garnered from primary and secondary research, as well as conversations with their group. The conversations revolved around the idea, what do we really need to know about someone when we have a conversation. The student began to question this same question in regard to gender, sexuality, and race.
